Pre-Employment Checks

An Overview

Once you have passed your RAD, your application moves into a part of the vetting process called ‘Pre-Employment Checks’. During this part of the process, various checks must happen before you can receive a verbal offer of employment. Some of these checks require you to submit documents; the quicker you submit your documents, the quicker your application will move into ‘Verbal Offer’ if you are successful.

The biggest cause of delays at this stage of the application process is candidates providing incomplete or incorrect vetting documentation. Please double check that all of your documentation is complete and correct; if you are unsure please contact us on 0845 2415358 or Moj-recruitment-vetting-enquiries@sscl.gse.gov.uk

Please consult the ‘RAD Overview’ page to see a breakdown of what your application statuses mean

Tips

  • When giving referee details, be very specific about their address and location. For example, if they work in a big hospital give their specific location rather than simply the hospital name.
  • Tell your referees the importance of returning paperwork quickly; get confirmation from them that they have returned their forms.
  • Try to use a computer or laptop to upload documents as they work better than a tablet or phone.
  • Firefox is the most compatible browser to use with the HMPPS system.
