MoJ Commercial and Contract Management Directorate (CCMD)

The breadth and depth of the work of the Ministry of Justice is significant.  Each year we spend circa £3.2 billion on a diverse range of goods and services.  In addition, we support some of the most innovative commercial work in government and our Directorate’s work is crucial to the successful delivery of prison reform and court reform programmes.

The Corporate Function leads on the CCMD strategy, the commercial policies and governance and commercial risk framework as well resourcing and development of the commercial function to enable it to meet its strategic and operational objectives. This includes financial management of the CCMD budget (c.£22m p.a.) and business support for approximately 280 staff based in nationally with some of the bigger hubs being London, Leeds and Manchester. We also support a Transport and Logistics function employing around 70 staff based in the Midlands.

Contribution to a strong team ethos as well as commitment to continuous improvement, collaboration and knowledge sharing is essential to work within this ambitious and supportive team.

Job Purpose

You will be part of a dynamic team, delivering crucial support to CCMD in the talent management space. You will be helping to deliver projects and day-to-day activities across recruitment, onboarding, performance management, personal development and culture of the CCMD team. We are part of Commercial Operating centre, and your role will be evenly split between organisational development and resource management.

Your will be responsible for: -

  • Providing analysis of the impact and effectiveness of L&D interventions
  • Owning our workforce change tracker document and supporting tracking and future forecasting of recruitment
  • Analysing and reporting on workforce data both to senior leaders and external stakeholders
  • Conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis to help identify skills gaps across the team
  • Supporting the delivery of CCMD Culture shift initiative, and ensuring changes are embedded in the organisation
  • Communicating with the wider team on talent management topics such as performance management, personal development, and recruitment
  • Organising delivery of training sessions (both external and internal)
  • Analysing Performance management data to support succession planning across CCMD
  • Managing the selection, onboarding, induction and design in-year experience of the Fast Streamer group in CCMD
  • Updating OrgVue workforce planning database with changes relating to our employees
  • Resolving queries across the two inboxes

About you

We are looking for an individual who is curious, a self-starter, has a keen eye for detail and thrives in a collaborative environment. You will ideally have previous experience of working with and analysing large datasets. Prior experience in the talent/ HR space would be beneficial.

Knowledge, skills and abilities we are looking for:

  • Analytics and data presentation
  • Intermediate knowledge of Office 365 applications (Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams and various additional applications)
  • Prior knowledge of OrgVue (or other database applications) would be beneficial but isn’t necessary
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan, organise and manage your time and that of others effectively
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills applied to managing a range of different stakeholders
  • Being a team player and working well with others

Working Arrangements & Further Information

Some of MoJ’s terms and conditions of service are changing as part of Civil Service reform. The changes will apply to staff joining MoJ who are new to the Civil Service. Staff joining MoJ from other civil service employers will transfer onto the new MoJ terms if they are already on 'modernised' terms in their current post or onto 'unmodernised' MoJ terms if they are on 'unmodernised' terms at their current post. Details will be available if an offer is made.

Annual leave is 25 days on appointment and will increase to 30 days after five years’ service.

Grading Structure Review
