Judicial Digital Services Product Manager

Background:

The Judicial Office’s (JO) purpose is strengthening the rule of law and improving the administration of justice by supporting the leadership and governance of the judiciary. providing support and administration to the judiciary. Over 400 civil servants work in the JO in a range of functions including HR, training, private offices and press/communications.

The Judicial Digital Services (JDS) function is a small, friendly, and welcoming team within the Judicial Office. There are currently 12 team members. The JDS team lead the development and delivery of products for judiciary and other audiences such as members of the public and legal professionals. The team also collaborate with HMCTS/MOJ on a number of products where integration and development are required to meet business goals.

These Product Manager will lead on the product development and ongoing lifecycle of a range of the Judicial Office’s digital products. They will collaborate with the multi-displinary team JDS Team, users and stakeholders Judicial throughout the different stages of delivery and development, providing the post-holder the opportunity to obtain a broad range of product management experience from discovery to live service and the ongoing iterations. They will work closely with delivery managers and architects/associates to prioritise the backlog of the various products.

This is a fast-paced, complex delivery environment with a wide-range of stakeholders including business partners, commercial functions, service owners, delivery partners and industry suppliers.

Purpose of the role:

To plan, build and iterate digital services dependent on the business and user need. The primary responsibility will be to assist in the planning and development of judiciary services throughout the various stages of their lifecycle, these include judiciary.uk, Judicial eLinks, Judicial HR, the Judicial Intranet and Judicial College Learning.

In addition, the post holder will have the opportunity to become involved in:

  • ensuring existing products are meeting user needs and identifying user stories for new requirements using continuous improvement tools and techniques;
  • project management, particularly stakeholder engagement and communications;

There will be opportunities to attend training courses, join government communities and engage with other product managers across other departments. 

Key responsibility:

  • Work with product managers, delivery manager, product owners, stakeholders, users, suppliers, various teams and the Head of Judicial Digital Services to plan and support the development and ongoing improvements of products across the Judicial Office.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Work with product owners, delivery managers and suppliers and the Head of Digital Services on the delivery and continuous improvement of digital products and services, ensuring their ongoing success.
  • Assist with the creation of clear, concise user stories with acceptance criteria and definitions of success.
  • Maintain knowledge of the changing digital and technology landscape and the opportunities they provide to improve the delivery of services for the UK judiciary.
  • Potentially line manage and lead an Associate Product Manager

Redeployment Interview Scheme

Civil Service departments are expected to explore redeployment opportunities before making an individual redundant. The MoJ are committed, as part of the Redeployment Interview Scheme, to providing opportunities to those who are 'at risk of redundancy'.

MoJ are able to offer an interview to eligible candidates who meet the minimum selection criteria, except in a limited number of campaigns. Candidate's will not be eligible for the Redeployment Interview Scheme if they are applying on promotion.
