Overview

We are looking for someone with experience of implementing operational and policy change, to manage the Power of Attorney Services Continuous Improvement team.  

OPG is responsible for registering lasting powers of attorney (LPA) and enduring powers of attorney (EPA) and supervising deputies who are appointed by the Court of Protection (COP). The Public Guardian has made a commitment to digital transformation to improve the way that OPG operates and provides its services to our customers.

The successful candidate will be based in Birmingham and on occasion will be required to travel to our other site in Nottingham.

Job Description, Duties and Responsibilities –

The advertised role is for the POAS Continuous Improvement Manager.

The role of POAS CI Manager is to work with operational teams to identify and define problems, gather user feedback, complete data analysis to support the change, and propose and implement appropriate solutions. These solutions could be digital or non-digital and need to be implemented with minimal disruption to business as usual.

The POAS CI Team will work very closely with POAS operational teams, the POAS SIRIUS implementation team and MoJ Digital, among others, to ensure that all parties are aware of upcoming changes and that their views are considered. The team will use measurable benefits to assess the success of completed projects.

The POAS CI Manager will report to the Senior Implementation Manager (SEO) and will work with colleagues from across the business to create robust, achievable plans for implementing change.

The POAS CI Manager will manage a small team of Continuous Improvement Consultants, prioritising their work and supporting their ongoing development.

We are looking for someone with experience of implementing operational change, who has influenced policy decision making and has managed a team previously. The successful candidate must have enthusiasm for continuous improvement, developing a network of business contacts, be highly organised and have a desire to develop their skills on an ongoing basis.

Knowledge/experience of Digital/Agile methods of working.

Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and Code of Practice.

Experience of using Microsoft Office computer packages including Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams, OneNote, Presentations and PowerPoint.

Ability to identify own training needs and seek out resources to action these.

If successful at sift, you will be invited to an interview which will follow the Civil Service Success Profile process.
