Purpose

The post holder will assist the Head of Business Improvement in driving forward the Diversity and Inclusion agenda within MOJ Finance. Ensuring that we create, establish and maintain an inclusive work environment for us all to be able to bring our whole self to work. The post holder will provide advise guidance and support the MOJ Finance function in all aspects of Diversity and Inclusion. Reporting to the Head of Business Improvement, this is a national post, although occasional travel maybe required.

Responsibilities

  • To ensure that diversity is celebrated through organised events and awareness sessions
  • Establish and support facilitation staff forums to ensure all groups have a voice in the function
  • Support the champion network in execution of their roles, providing advice, guidance and support
  • Collate and analyse staff statistics and highlight issues and concerns – make recommendations for areas to take action
  • Support the design and delivery of new initiatives designed to promote diversity and inclusion including relevant learning and development packages
  • Produce and analyse survey results and make recommendations for actions – including functional surveys and the annual people survey
  • Produce reports on progress in diversity and inclusion and prepare action plans to further encourage diversity.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and teams
  • Become familiar with internal and external resources relating to diversity and inclusion
  • Analyse and understand performance relating to relevant KPIs and milestones
  • Plan an active role in the MoJ Finance working group.
  • Act as secretary to meetings as required including organising agendas, taking minutes, distributing minutes and action points
  • Act as the first point of contact for general queries which could include: dealing with face to face queries, booking meeting rooms, organising teleconference and video conference facilities and routinely monitor and actioning requests sent to the functional mailbox
  • Undertake other tasks including:
  • Facilitate all communications relating to diversity and inclusion to the team.
  • Prepare paperwork for checking by manager, conducting initial checks as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours

  • To be able to think creatively, network and develop strong working relationships
  • To understand, manipulate, analyse and visualise data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to suit a range of audiences including senior manager and address matters sensitively
  • Practical experience with diversity management would be advantageous but not essential
  • Experience with the development of training sessions advantageous
  • To manage own workload, working accurately and efficiently to fixed deadlines with minimal supervision, and to prioritise a range of competing demands while maintaining attention to detail.
  • A willingness to acquire and maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation and policies in the area of diversity and inclusion
  • Ability to compile and manage on-line surveys, and the analysis of administrative data on staff
  • An understanding of policies relating to diversity and inclusion are desirable but not essential

Working Arrangements & Further Information

Some of MoJ’s terms and conditions of service are changing as part of Civil Service reform. The changes will apply to staff joining MoJ who are new to the Civil Service. Staff joining MoJ from other civil service employers will transfer onto the new MoJ terms if they are already on 'modernised' terms in their current post or onto 'unmodernised' MoJ terms if they are on 'unmodernised' terms at their current post. Details will be available if an offer is made.

Annual leave is 25 days on appointment and will increase to 30 days after five years’ service.

Grading Structure Review

The Ministry of Justice is currently undergoing a review of posts which are currently graded at Band A to realign our grading structure with the majority of the wider Civil Service.
