About the role

We’re looking for a talented and tenacious person to join our Service Operations teams to take the lead in SACM, delivering world-class services in the justice system. We use cutting-edge technology and tools to make rapid but meaningful improvements to public services that live up to the unique challenges of MOJ's responsibility to society.

You will contribute to the development and delivery of a high-quality Service Asset and Configuration Management service. You’ll work in the service integration and management (SIAM) model and essential to your success will be the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a variety of suppliers, both internal and external, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Service Asset Configuration Manager will work collaboratively with other teams and key stakeholders and will:-

  • Lead on the delivery of a fully operational CMDB, evaluating existing tools and the design, and drive the development of new/improved features and functionality as necessary in order to improve compliance coverage, as well as efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage configuration management for the organisation, ensuring value for the business and adherence to company policies. Ensures changes to assets are recorded and controlled appropriately. Promotes organisational commitment to asset control.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess product, contract, and relationship specific risk factors providing recommendations to address any identified risks.
  • Manage / negotiate appropriate resolution of non-compliance issues directly with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure asset management is delivered to Operating Level Agreement, ensuring contractual obligations are fully met.
  • Work in collaboration with the SACM Hardware and Software Teams, to create, review and update of the Asset & Configuration Management Policy, Process and Procedures which defines the lifecycle of all Assets.
  • Identify and define scope of the asset & configuration management processes, function, the items that are to be controlled, and the information that is to be recorded.
  • Develop strategy and implement best practice frameworks for measuring, improving, monitoring and reporting against SLT and KPI.
  • Provide KPI/Metric information and standardized reporting on a scheduled basis together with unscheduled reporting demanded by management.
  • Identifying and implement opportunities to optimise processes to deliver service improvements.
  • Perform verification and audit of CMDB content; confirm hardware assets with actual inventory and initiate corrective actions and track them.
  • Collaborate with the software asset team to manage activities concerning license compliance.
  • Financial Management of any allocated budget.
  • Take part in other ITSM processes, or as required perform as a back up to maintain operational activities.
  • Engage with Projects or other internal stakeholders, in relation to Configuration Management.

Skills/Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of IT software and hardware asset management.
  • Strong knowledge working with a CMDB and demonstrable skills and experience of managing and improving a CMDB.
  • Strong ITSM tool experience, in particular ServiceNow tool
  • Proven ability and experience in executing strategic asset management processes successfully
  • Strong vendor management and negotiation skills
  • Strong knowledge of IT Service Management processes
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required, attentiveness to detail.
  • Ability to lead, influence, and team with others.
  • Proven experience of dealing with customers/suppliers/peers at all levels in a professional manner
  • The ability to prioritise effectively, both with their own workload and within the team
  • Acceptance of change and being open minded to new methods in the ever-changing industry.
  • Understand business issues and identify and articulate solutions.
  • ITIL v3 Foundation (minimum).
  • Experience of identifying and implementing robust governance processes.
  • Ability to drive forward the strategic vision and direction, positively influence key senior stakeholders and provide an arbitration function.

Salary and working arrangements

If successful, the salary we offer you will be within the advertised range and will depend on the skills and experience you demonstrate at the interview. Therefore in your cover letter it would be helpful to the hiring teams if you can indicate your salary expectations and if possible your notice period.
