Overview of the role:

This is a support role based at the Learning & Development Centre, Newbold Revel, CV23 0TH in Support Services. The post holder will report to the Support Services Business Hub Manager and has no line management responsibilities.

Support Services has responsibility for ensuring the different types of accommodation across the site have been set up according to the booking instructions and has appropriate furniture and equipment as required.

The site has a range of buildings with a variety of uses, for example office and residential accommodation, conferences, classrooms and meeting rooms. The role of the Site Support is to assist in the smooth running of business required at this busy site. Newbold Revel is the main training centre for Learning & Development and has 271 bedrooms and a large number of training and meeting rooms as well as office accommdation. The role is varied and a 'can do' attitude is required from the post holder. 

Summary:

The job holder will provide a range of site support services to the HQ site at the Learning & Development site at Newbold Revel, Rugby CV23 0TH. This will include the preparation of classrooms and meeting rooms to meet the needs of staff, delegates and visitors to the site following the booking instructions, an internal mail service and a variety of other dutes in order to assist in the provision of a high quality customer services provision on site.

This is a non-operational support job with no Line Management responsibilities and reports to the Support Services Business Hub Manager.

The hours of work are Monday to Friday between 8am and 8pm, to be agreed with business need. Some travel off site is required using site vehicles on the weekly laundy run, delivering POELT kit and equipment to new and existing sites and other delivery and collections as deemed necessary.

Responsibilities, Activities and Duties:

You will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:

Prepare all classrooms and meeting rooms including logistical arrangements, ensuring the booking instructions have been followed

Provide an effective internal mail collection and delivery service for the site including furniture, stationery boxes and training materials

Transport and delivery of goods from site to other venues as required including the weekly laundy delivery to the local jail responsible for that week's laundry and delivering POELT equipment and materials to new sites

Dispose of confidential waste, collecting from offices around the site and transporting to waste centre for storage and onward delivery to the appropriate recycling centre

Comply with waste management and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health

(COSHH) regulations, including collection and sorting

Distribute/remove/assemble products and furniture/equipment as required

Regularly check all equipment, including vehicles, audio visual, and furniture in classrooms and meeting rooms, advising line management if repair/replacement is necessary

Advise on sufficient levels of stock and request procurement of goods and services and ensure all materials used are logged and are fit for purpose

Check First Aid boxes around site on a weekly basis, replenishing as appropriate.

Be First Aid at Work trained and available to support anybody on site when required

Be part of the Business Hub Fire Marshalling team

Escort technical contractors when required, working with and supervising them in accordance with local security arrangements

Undertake the role of banksman directing the operation of some plant equipment or machinery

Drive estates vehicles and operate plant equipment to ensure the needs of the Support Services business are met

When required, assist with barrier duties and parking of delegates and staff cars to ensure the site is safe and irresponsible parking is reported to the Business Hub Manager

Be an integral part of the Support Services team, helping colleagues when needed to ensure the smooth running of the department. This may include helping with document scanning and occasional manning of reception

Some of MoJ’s terms and conditions of service are changing as part of Civil Service reform. The changes will apply to staff joining MoJ who are new to the Civil Service. Staff joining MoJ from other civil service employers will transfer onto the new MoJ terms if they are already on 'modernised' terms in their current post or onto 'unmodernised' MoJ terms if they are on 'unmodernised' terms at their current post.
