HM INSPECTORATE OF PROBATION – EFFECTIVE PRACTICE LEAD

We are offering this post on a three-year secondment or a permanent contract. The location of this post is flexible.

If seconded, remuneration (salary and any taxable allowances), pay progression and employment terms & conditions will be the same as currently received from the seconding employer.

Effective Practice Lead


Overview

Key requirements of the role


  • Develop, define and keep under review the inspectorate’s corporate understanding of effective practice, developing specialist effective practice knowledge where appropriate, and keeping our understanding of effective practice current
  • Define the principles of innovative/effective practice
  • Establish and manage an inspectorate approach which proactively identifies, promotes and reviews effective practice
  • Contribute effective practice knowledge to the development of our inspection programmes and our staff
  • Develop our role in identifying and disseminating effective practice as part of the oversight model
  • Establish and cultivate the network of individuals and groups in the inspectorate that will support the identification and dissemination of effective practice
  • Work with probation and youth justice providers, HMPPS and other stakeholders to promote effective practice and practice improvement
  • Design, implement and lead an external approach to the categorisation of effective practice including developing roles for academics and peer reviews
  • Develop effective practice guidance documents for probation and youth justice providers
  • Provide effective leadership of projects relating to areas of effective practice
  • Coordinate the efforts of Inspectorate staff in leading on keeping abreast of effective practice in specific areas of focus

Working Arrangements & Further Information

Some of MoJ’s terms and conditions of service are changing as part of Civil Service reform. The changes will apply to staff joining MoJ who are new to the Civil Service. Staff joining MoJ from other civil service employers will transfer onto the new MoJ terms if they are already on 'modernised' terms in their current post or onto 'unmodernised' MoJ terms if they are on 'unmodernised' terms at their current post.
