The Role

We’re recruiting for an Operational Improvement Manager here at MoJ Digital & Technology, to be part of our warm and collaborative CICA team.

As the Operational Improvement Manager in CICA Digital, you will lead and deliver the work required to improve the operational management of the department and to operationalise the process transformations flowing out of the Digital Strategy, which is being created and implemented by the Head of Digital. This is a varied and wide-ranging role, providing critical support to the Head of Digital to ensure the effective running of a growing and ambitious digital department.

Key Responsibilities:

This role is to deliver the operational improvements needed to support the Digital Strategy.

  • Meeting with the Product Managers and Delivery Managers, to ensure suppliers/projects are on the right track against budgets and work with the Contracts Manager to ensure that suppliers represent value for money and are held to account for their delivery
  • Improving our financial reporting to ensure we are reporting in the most efficient ways against all our conflicting reporting demands.
  • Creating the internal reporting processes to ensure we know what our ROI is at product level to support the Head Of Digital’s vision to have prioritisation of work focused on value for users and business stakeholders and the costs and the benefits realised over time.
  • Ensuring the people data and headcount is up-to-date as our People Single Point of Contact (SPOC), ensuring the Head of Digital is able to meet their responsibilities
  • Ensuring procedures are in place to identify, raise and manage risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Creating and delivering a robust incident management process.
  • Creating and delivering a live service management process to reduce the live service admin requests coming into the Product Teams.
  • Ensuring the budget set by the Head of CICA Digital is being correctly reported on, both in terms of forecast and actual costs.
  • Identify, develop and share best practice business management processes, tools and templates and benchmarks against industry standards.
  • Implementing operational changes to the structure and organisation of CICA Digital to support the delivery of the Strategy.
  • Have oversight of the digital team’s portfolio of work, ensuring the portfolio is known and that the team remains accountable for delivery.
  • Represent the Head of Digital at CICA and cross-Government as necessary.
  • Working with professional leads to ensure all team members have effective and appropriate objectives and are supported in their ongoing professional development.
  • Ensuring policies including, but not limited to, HR, Finance and Health and Safety are adhered to across the department

Person Specification

Essential

  • Meet the requirements for BPSS Clearance
  • Proven ability to communicate at senior level to meet aims and outcomes
  • Knowledge of current Agile Project Management practice
  • Demonstrable Project governance skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and committed to give a high quality performance in all aspects of the job
  • Exemplary written and oral communication
  • Highly articulate and credible with senior stakeholders
  • Excellent prioritisation skills and attention to detail
  • Experience using MS Excel and Google documents

Desirable

  • Practical SCRUM/Agile experience
  • Proven people management skills
