The role of Deputy Delivery Manager is based at the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) within the Change Management Office. The Public Guardian’s responsibilities include registering lasting powers of attorney, supervising the work of attorneys and deputies and protecting people who lack the capacity to make decisions for themselves.

Responsible for managing small projects or aspects of larger ones, to support the delivery of the project portfolio. You will support the Project/Delivery Manager and Product Owners to ensure effective delivery of projects and programmes and to gain relevant experience needed to help support the wider CMO. This will involve management of documentation ensuring that the portfolio projects are being monitored and effective reporting mechanisms are in place to escalate any issues that may affect the delivery of milestones. The role will also involve stakeholder management, facilitating workshops, sprint reviews, show and tells and assisting project meetings.

A requirement of the role will be to provide support to the continuous improvement and portfolio office streams where required.

The Deputy Delivery Manager will report directly into a Project/Delivery Manager.

The Deputy Delivery Manager will be expected to work alongside a business Product Owners who has overall responsibility for ensuring delivery, to ensure a consistent approach to delivery is being maintained.

Duties and Responsibilities

1.Supporting delivery of Portfolio Projects and Programmes

  • Ensure that project governance documentation is kept up to date and is fed into the progress reports that are developed by the Portfolio Office
  • Use project governance documentation provided by the Portfolio Office to manage the lifecycle of a project
  • Facilitation of workshops, project boards, sprint reviews and show and tells when required to support ongoing tracking of project deliverables.
  • General administration including the setting up of workshops, coordination of meetings, taking minutes etc

2.Delivery of small work packages to support larger projects or delivery of small scale projects

  • Take an active role in leading on discovery work items that will feed into larger scale projects
  • Deliver small projects/ or aspects of larger ones that will feed into larger scale projects
  • Work with CI strand to complete business process mapping activities
  • Develop a communication package for projects

3.Management of project documentation including risk and issue registers, project plans, stakeholder maps and benefit plans.

  • Ensure that project documentation such as risk, issues, project plans, stakeholder maps and benefit plans are used to inform the next action required for the project
  • Work with the portfolio office to identify the most effective way of reporting and displaying information (using the 'champion-challenger' model

 

4.Development of relevant update or progress reports

  • Create suitable reporting documentation to show high level updates relating to portfolio projects for the change committee and other change boards that highlight key milestones of the project, key issues and benefits.
