The analyst post will work on one of HMPPS's priority areas, known as the joint intelligence project which is looking at force level organised crime nominals and those of developing interest. The role will be to cross reference the police information with intelligence held on HMPPS systems and provide updates at local meetings across Wales and contribute to 4P risk management plans. This role will also be responsible for identifying threats and trends across Wales.

The work base will be Cardiff however, the base can be negotiated across Wales.  Secondments will also be considered.


Overview of the job


The Analyst Support Officer is responsible for collating, analysing and disseminating data for the Directorate / unit's objectives.


Summary


The job holder will provide analytical support to their unit. They will be responsible for maintaining administration systems effectively and efficiently within specified timescales.


Responsibilities, Activities & Duties


You will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:


  • Analyse and evaluate information to support and inform decision making for the Directorate
  • Produce a monthly information report and disseminate it as required across the directorate, collating feedback
  • Ensure all information systems are updated and maintained.
  • Provide advice and guidance to managers and staff on current trends and issues.
  • Maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Check management information received, determine level of importance and recommend responses and solutions
  • Analyse trends hot spot and general profile analysis, in order to identify potential areas of concern; regularly update line management
  • Organise, produce and maintain accurate records for area of work
  • Correspond with relevant stakeholders and agencies to ensure that they are aware of information and that the information is adequately shared
  • Collate information relating to Service Delivery Indictators (SDI's)
  • Arrange any meetings including the preparation of paperwork, minutes and action points

Desirable

Candidates must bring to the interview their passport, driving licence, bank statement from within the last 3 months and another ID document to ensure vetting requirements are met. 

Working Arrangements & Further Information

Some of MoJ’s, including HMPPS, terms and conditions of service are changing as part of Civil Service reform. The changes will apply to staff joining MoJ who are new to the Civil Service. Staff joining MoJ from other civil service employers will transfer onto the new MoJ terms if they are already on 'modernised' terms in their current post or onto 'unmodernised' MoJ terms if they are on 'unmodernised' terms at their current post. Details will be available if an offer is made.

Standard working hours for this post are 37 hours per week excluding breaks which are unpaid.

If you are a current NPS employee, this vacancy may be available on a Loan basis for up to 2 years. Applications are invited from suitable qualified staff.

The Loan/Secondment is subject to the approval of the selected candidate's Business Unit, which should be obtained before confirmation of appointment.

-All external candidates are subject to 6 months probation. Internal candidates are subject to probation if they have not already served a probationary period within HMPPS
