The JAC

The Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) is an independent public body that selects judges in the courts and tribunals, and non-legal tribunal members. The JAC selects judicial candidates through fair and open competition, encouraging a wide range of quality candidates to apply for the posts that it advertises.

The JAC is responsible for designing, planning and running recruitment campaigns to select judicial office holders up to and including the High Court. We have a statutory duty to select solely on merit, while keeping our selection processes open to the widest range of applicants. We have a vacancy for a Delivery Manager with strong digital and agile expertise as well as leadership skills.

As a Delivery Manager, you will ensure that team deliver digital products and services according to the best practices of agile and lean principles and methodologies

Role

A delivery manager is accountable for the delivery of products and services:

  • promote agile working within your team and in the wider organisation to build and iterate a user-centred service
  • removing obstacles or ‘blockers’ to progress
  • helping your service team become better at autonomously organising their own work
  • making sure accessibility is factored into each feature or activity the team’s working on
  • provides all support to Digital Board and Head of Operations and Digital

Main duties/responsibilities

As a delivery manager, you will:

  • leading and motivating a multi-disciplinary team, helping them organise and plan their work, ensuring they deliver products and services that actually meet users’ needs.
  • working alongside the Product Manager to prioritise work and deliver organisational objectives.
  • ensuring the team clearly communicate their plans and progress through their plans using recognised agile practices
  • providing data to help report on the programme to the senior management team
  • identifying the people, skills and resources that the team need to deliver to the agreed goals
  • identifying and communicating risks, issues, dependencies and blockers
  • managing stakeholders to ensure good relations and effective communication

Skills and experience

We’re looking someone with strong interpersonal skills who enjoys working in a demanding, high profile agile environment. You need to be passionate about agile working, care about technology and know how to make projects succeed. You will believe that how you work is as important as what you deliver.

It’s essential that you have:

  • Has a knowledge of a range of Agile and Lean tools and techniques, with an ability to coach within and outside of their team.
  • A track record of successfully delivering complex digital projects and products under time pressure
  • Able to communicate effectively across organisational, technical and political boundaries, understanding the context
  • Deep understanding of the digital landscape

Working Arrangements & Further Information

Some of MoJ’s terms and conditions of service are changing as part of Civil Service reform. The changes will apply to staff joining MoJ who are new to the Civil Service. Staff joining MoJ from other civil service employers will transfer onto the new MoJ terms if they are already on 'modernised' terms in their current post or onto 'unmodernised' MoJ terms if they are on 'unmodernised' terms at their current post. Details will be available if an offer is made.
