Case Management

The Case Management department is the delivery function of the Legal Aid Agency and our staff ensure that each year 600,000 new clients are able to access the justice they require, and that their providers are fairly remunerated for the delivery of the legal aid. With over 800 staff based across 11 sites we deliver services for those facing both criminal and civil legal problems.

Finance Performance and Governance Team

The team works across the Case Management Directorate supporting the Senior Management Team through the production and provision of high-quality reports which include performance, budget and cost management, travel, recruitment, resourcing, absence, governance and estates.

Job Summary

The role holder will be responsible for supporting the advancement and delivery of the Case Management workforce planning strategy. They will support senior leaders and operational leaders across the Case Management Directorate, ensuring that the right resources are in place to deliver the operational business for current processing requirements and to effectively plan for future significant policy changes.

The role holder will report directly to the Operations Manager on Finance Performance and Governance Team.

The role holder will work closely with the Central Recruitment Team and to ensure the effective management and administration of recruitment campaigns, to support delivery of the LAA policy led changes and support the Case Management Change Action Plan, Case Management Workforce Plan and the LAA Recruitment and Retention Strategy.

They will work closely with Senior Business Improvement Managers within the Case Management Improvement Team to ensure the effect delivery of resource requirements to meet operational business needs.

In addition, the post holder will liaise with recruiting managers across the business to ensure all recruitment meets the legal requirements of being fair and open, ensuring decisions are always made on merit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with a wide network of key stakeholders across Case Management, including Senior Leaders and Operational Leads working effectively together, providing support, advice, challenge and clarification on workplace planning and recruitment matters.

  • Work with Senior Leaders, the FPG Operations Manager and colleagues in Case Management to deliver on actions within the workforce planning strategy.

  • Work closely with the CMIT Business Improvement Manager to delivery Means Test Review changes and other policy led initiatives.

  • Manage recruitment activity relating to key strategic and future policy changes in Case Management ensuring that the required standards are met and that the process is efficient, preventing any delays / errors which will impact on the business or applicants.

  • Submission of documentation for budget approval for spend on resource requirements.

  • Monitor progress with live recruitment campaigns and manage merits lists for completed campaigns.

  • Ensure effective communications for recruitment campaigns that keep management, key stakeholders and candidates informed throughout.

  • Promote equality & diversity, treating everyone fairly and actively, encouraging ideas and contributions from all members of your team and across the case management teams.

  • Communicate effectively with people from across the business to foster effective and productive working relationships with all stakeholders.

  • Take a leading role in team meetings, encouraging the sharing of views, ideas and solutions.

  • Attend meetings with key stakeholders including Senior Leaders providing updates on progress with recruitment and resourcing plans.

  • Maintaining recruitment levels for all teams in case management in the operational space alongside additional recruitment for policy change.

  • Exploring and maximising recruitment opportunities including community networking and liaising with other Government Departments to attract candidates.

  • Co-ordinating with team managers, trainers and senior technical leads to organise induction/training for new starters.

  • Responsible for ensuring consistency across recruitment campaigns within Case Management – liaising effectively with vacancy managers and other stakeholders on campaign administration including assessment requirements.

Working Arrangements & Further Information

The MoJ offers Hybrid Working arrangements where business need allows. This is an informal, non-contractual form of flexible working that blends working from your base location, different MoJ sites and / or from home (please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas).
