Overview

The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) is an Executive Agency of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), responsible for registering Lasting Powers of Attorney and supervising deputies who are appointed by the Court of Protection. Lasting Powers of Attorney gives people the power to choose who will be their voice and act in their best interests if they lose the ability to make certain decisions for themselves such as health and finances. Our vision is to make lasting powers of attorney accessible, affordable and essential for future planning, while providing world class services for everyone in society. The Workforce Resourcing Services (WRS) team supports OPG by managing all recruitment campaign processes. This includes advertising vacancies and carrying out recruitment selection processes (sifting and interviews) for large scale entry level Civil Service roles.

The temporary vacancies advertised here are in the sifting & interviewing side of the WRS team. Additionally, there may be some opportunity to work with colleagues liaising with business areas to establish & develop descriptions; identify diverse & inclusive selection panels; manage recruitment campaign plans through to finalising start dates for successful candidates

The successful candidate’s office location will be at either OPG’s Birmingham or Nottingham office. We encourage a hybrid way of working which includes some remote/home working alongside office working. You will be expected to work at one or both OPG sites at least two days each week.

Job Description, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sifting job applications and conducting interviews in accordance with MoJ policy, both on site and/or remotely as required
  • Utilising an online platform & internal processes and spreadsheets to manage recruitment
  • Liaison with candidates, arranging interview slots, providing adjustments and feedback when
  • Support the development and introduction of new and improved recruitment practices
  • Liaison with vacancy holders across OPG to develop job descriptions to attract people with the right skills to apply for
  • Participating in discussions with vacancy holders to identify interview panels ensuring all panels are diverse &
  • Work with colleagues in the team to ensure tasks and actions are completed efficiently and within agreed service level
  • Input into strategic decisions regarding OPG’s wider recruitment agenda.
  • Support the team in maintaining its reputation for delivering an excellent recruitment service to internal and external
  • Undertake any other actions commensurate within the

Skills & Qualifications

Essential

  • Ability to confidently communicate/collaborate with all internal/external stakeholders.
  • Experience of using Microsoft computer packages, i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft

Working Arrangements & Further Information

The MoJ offers Hybrid Working arrangements where business need allows. This is an informal, non-contractual form of flexible working that blends working from your base location, different MoJ sites and / or from home (please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas). Some roles will not be suitable for Hybrid Working. Similarly, Hybrid Working will not suit everyone’s circumstances. Arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate(s) and subject to regular review.   

For nationally advertised roles, the successful candidate(s) will be appointed to a MoJ office location, which may include their nearest Justice Collaboration Centre or Justice Satellite Office. This will be discussed and agreed on the completion of pre-employment checks. 

Some of MoJ’s terms and conditions of service are changing as part of Civil Service reform. The changes will apply to staff joining MoJ who are new to the Civil Service. Staff joining MoJ from other civil service employers will transfer onto the new MoJ terms if they are already on 'modernised' terms in their current post or onto 'unmodernised' MoJ terms if they are on 'unmodernised' terms at their current post. Annual Leave

Annual leave is 25 days on appointment and will increase to 30 days after five years’ service.
