Purpose of the role

Underpinned by the MoJ values: Purpose, Humanity, Openness and Together, our D&I agenda is core to delivering ‘a world class justice system that works for everyone. The role of D&I Co-ordinator provides an exciting opportunity to support the work of the MoJ’s D&I & Wellbeing Team and help to deliver the MoJ’s D&I agenda.

You will provide support to the D&I and Wellbeing team across a wide variety of agendas. You will gain experience and knowledge of D&I through providing important administrative support to the team, supporting a range of projects and by leading on logistics and administration for events, activities and interventions. You will work with a range of stakeholders across the Department, to help the team drive corporate actions that together contribute to delivery of the MoJ D&I Strategy’s objectives to:

  • Develop an Inclusive Workplace for all staff
  • Build a diverse workforce at every level
  • Deliver Fair and accessible services to all and to contribute to the wider Civil Service D&I Strategy ‘A Brilliant Civil Service – becoming the UK’s most inclusive employer’

Responsibilities

The D&I Co-ordinator will need excellent communication skills (written and verbal), strong organisational skills and will be confident in using IT to carry out a variety of tasks. They will also need to develop an understanding of the D&I and Wellbeing agenda, and be proactive and flexible in providing support to the rest of the team.

The key accountabilities of the role are outlined below. However, this is an overview of the role and is not exhaustive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and organising workload to ensure that results are delivered on time and to a high standard and that internal and external customers’ expectations are met.
  • To act as an initial point of contact on D&I and Wellbeing, liaising and dealing effectively with a range of stakeholders, to accurately and appropriately screen, log and prioritize queries and information in/out of the team
  • Establish good working relationships with key stakeholders and other members of the team to ensure a high quality of service is provided and the work of the team is promoted positively.
  • Maintain and update electronic filing systems and process all information/data in accordance with documented procedures.
  • To support/contribute to D&I and Wellbeing initiatives including events, learning sessions and various activities with staff networks as required.
  • Provide project management support to the team as and when required.
  • Exercise some independent judgement in carrying out instructions under general supervision.
  • Be proactive and flexible in providing support to the rest of the team.
  • Demonstrate strong organisational skills in all areas of work.
  • Carry out general administrative duties such as dealing with visitors and making travel arrangements, supporting simple IT related requests as necessary
  • To actively contribute to the work of the wider team, providing absence cover for team colleagues as required.
  • Ensure compliance with, and application of, the organisation’s requirements with regard to equality and diversity and health and safety, including demonstrating respect of others, fair and impartial behavior in dealing with people and maintaining a healthy and safe environment by taking reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others.

Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours

To be successful in your application, you must be able to evidence the following criteria:

  • Experience of effectively managing your own time to strict deadlines.
  • High level of ICT skills and facility with IT systems and applications including MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • You work well with others and are able to build meaningful relationships with stakeholders.
  • You can work and make decisions independently, having taken all variables into account but within clear guidelines and understands when it is appropriate to escalate issues

About you:

  • You’re enthusiastic, interested to learn more about the D&I agenda and have experience of supporting a team/individual.
  • You have excellent time management skills and work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • You’re a proactive individual with a high degree of organisational ability, attention to detail and manages time effectively.
  • You have excellent written and oral communication skills showing precision, tact and a keen use of language suitable for the target audience.

  • Focusing on delivering timely performance with energy, and taking responsibility for quality outcomes
  • Working to agreed goals and dealing with challenges in a responsive and constructive way, taking ownership of these problems
  • Regularly review what is required to make an activity successful, and make ongoing improvements

Working Arrangements & Further Information

Some of MoJ’s terms and conditions of service are changing as part of Civil Service reform. The changes will apply to staff joining MoJ who are new to the Civil Service. Staff joining MoJ from other civil service employers will transfer onto the new MoJ terms if they are already on 'modernised' terms in their current post or onto 'unmodernised' MoJ terms if they are on 'unmodernised' terms at their current post. Details will be available if an offer is made.
