The team

The Central Digital team is a centre of excellence to ensure the MoJ is becoming more digital and focusing on the right things to digitally transform the justice system and minimise pain for our users. We provide digital products and services for partners in our core operational teams (HQ) and the courts system (HMCTS), as well as offering user centred design, research and digital consultancy for the wider department. The products we work on include:

  • software for the public, like 'Visit someone in prison', to improve access to justice and help deliver a modern courts and justice system
  • software for internal users, likeour intranet, to transform our department and improve the working lives of 70,000 staff
  • platforms and APls to help build our software like ourCloud Platform to make how our product development simpler and smarter

The role

We're looking for an individual with strong interpersonal skills who likes working in a delivery focused, agile environment with multidisciplinary teams. You also contribute toour Agile Delivery community and share your skills and experiences with others across the MOJ, and across government.

You will be an experienced delivery manager leading a multidisciplinary team, supporting and continuously improving products of significant scale and complexity.

You will:

  • build and maintain motivated teams, making sure there is an iterative plan to work towards
  • protect the team and make sure the team collaborates, communicates and focuses on what is most important
  • coach team members and others, facilitate continuous improvement and apply the most appropriate agile and lean tools and techniques for their environment
  • proactively manage dependencies, overcome obstacles and get the best value against constraints
  • may manage risks, budgets and people
  • be an active part of the broader delivery management community, receiving coaching and mentoring from your senior colleagues
  • take part in informal support networks with your peers.

You'll have

  • Understand the environment and is able to prioritise the most important or highest value tasks. Able to use data to inform planning. Able to manage complex internal and external dependencies. Able to provide delivery confidence. Able to remove blockers or impediments that affect the plan and is able to develop a plan for difficult situations. Ensures teams plan appropriately for their own capacity.
  • Ability to bring people together to form a motivated team. Able to empower delivery teams. Able to help create the right environment for a team to work in. Recognises and deals with issues. Able to facilitate the best team makeup depending on the situation.

Salary and working arrangements

If successful, the salary we offer you will be within the advertised range and will depend on the skills and experience you demonstrate at the interview.
