Overview of the job
This role will support the Male Allies Network Project Lead in the running of and driving this project.
In November 2020 a Male Allies Forum was created in HMPPS led by Jim Barton. This forum, alongside HMPPS Championing Women in the Workplace are formed of staff who have expressed a desire to take part and lead work to shape products and drive conversations locally.
The Male Ally network has grown significantly in recent months, with increased membership across prisons, probation and HQ. Moving forward the network is focused on continuing to raise awareness around issues of gender-inequality in the workplace and wider society, upskill staff to call out inappropriate behaviour and host related events in partnership with Championing Women in the Workplace.
The Male Ally network has not been set up to end gender-inequality on behalf of women or for any paternalistic notion that women need to be sponsored by men.
