This is an exciting time for People Group as we transform how we use and disseminate data to aid people related decision making.

The Workforce Experience and People Insight Team within MoJ People Group, is a dynamic team which provides people-related evidence and insight from data across People Group and the business regarding long-term future workforce trends, medium and short-term workforce plans and the experience and dynamics of our workforce today. These outputs ensure our people plans, policies and processes are data driven and evidence based, employing horizon scanning, expert forecasting, workforce planning, and people analytics using qualitative and quantitative research techniques. 

The world of work is rapidly changing with external factors (economic, societal, environmental, technological) providing opportunities for organisations to mature their employment models and leadership practices and create individualised propositions and thus more meaning for employees. Our team provides research on this future, and supports business leaders to plan for the workforce they need in a different future, taking insight and feedback from our current workforce into account. Placing the employee experience at the heart of our work, we enable data driven and evidence based decisions to be made about our current and future workforce needs.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Graphic Designer to work in a challenging and exciting environment within the team, working closely with and reporting to the Senior Digital Designer to produce a broad range of media to support internal and external stakeholders. You will take complex analysis and information and transform it visually to enhance reader comprehension of the key messages, ensuring data and evidence are at the forefront of any decision making. The work will be pivotal in helping us to influence people and business-related decision making, covering all aspects of an employees’ experience with us. 

Role Responsibilities

  • Design, create and develop a suite of professional online material that will be compatible across digital platforms and meets branding guidelines.
  • Create professional infographics for cross media use to support the analysis team. Ensure analytical findings are visualised in a manner that promotes ease of interpretation and leveraging of value by the end users.
  • Develop animated infographics to further enhance the data and analysis of the team and to support video production within the team. Automate the production of infographics for regular products.
  • Support the wider Workforce Experience and People Insight Team, the wider People Group team and other senior stakeholders through Digital Design services.
  • Contribute to the professionalism and reputation of the People Analytics team, by building clear branding aligned to MoJ standards ensuring People Analytics is easily recognised as an exemplary team across People Group, the wider MoJ and across other Government Departments.
  • Create social media assets including video and imagery content. Publishing content in line with the approved content matrix.
  • Support for all reports, dashboards, presentations and documentation the team produce, ensuring branding is aligned and the reports look professional and part of a standardised family of documents.
  • Stay up to date with the latest technology and provide recommendations around emerging technology, methods and trends.
  • Create dashboards and support the team in producing visually appealing dashboards .
  • Other ad-hoc design work as and when required. 

Person Specification 

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • An experienced Graphic Designer, familiar with working within teams as well as being self-sufficient.
  • Excellent creative ability with proven experience of producing a wide variety of digital and interactive content across multiple media platforms, with a strong portfolio of work to support this.
  • Excellent attention to detail with experience of working with corporate brand guidelines.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships and networks within teams and across the wider organisation.
  • Ability to translate complex information into concise, engaging content which is accessible to non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to deliver at pace, managing competing priorities and changing deadlines.
  • Skilled in Adobe Creative Cloud, in particular Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat Professional, After Effects and Premier.
  • Understanding the importance of managing, storing and protecting information and personal data.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge and experience of using WordPress and Content Management Systems (CMS) created using WordPress.
  • An understanding of Accessibility Standards would be welcomed.

Working Arrangements & Further Information 

Some of MoJ’s terms and conditions of service are changing as part of Civil Service reform. The changes will apply to staff joining MoJ who are new to the Civil Service. Staff joining MoJ from other civil service employers will transfer onto the new MoJ terms if they are already on 'modernised' terms in their current post or onto 'unmodernised' MoJ terms if they are on 'unmodernised' terms at their current post.
