Important salary details:

New recruits to the Civil Service joining MoJ are expected to join at the band minimum.

Existing Civil Servants applying on promotion, will usually be appointed on the salary minimum of the new pay band, or receive an increase of 10 percent on the current base salary, whichever is higher (This is restricted to the pay maximum of the new band).

Merit List:

HMCTS run a Merit List, where candidates who are unsuccessful at interview, by only a few points, can be offered other roles, at the same band, for up to 12 months!

Within DTS we have a Small Reference Data Team of Legal Advisers and Data Processing Officers who Manage the Standing Data for our business critical criminal systems, including Libra and Common Platform, ensuring our systems and processes remain compliant with the law, and cross Government data standards. They maintain Offences, Results, Orders Notices and Warrants, and all relevant Standing data to maintain business processes, and the flow of data across the Criminal Justice Agencies.

Job Description:

The National Standing Data Team (NSD) ensure criminal court systems remain compliant with new and existing legislative requirements, and compliant with CJS Data Standards and wider Government data standards. They create Offence and Result codes, Orders and Notices and other standing data to our systems, including Libra and Common Platform, working with the Legal Advisers to ensure legal compliance.

Key Responsibilities:      

  • Work with Legal advisers to produce orders and notices, offences codes and other standing data, compliant with legal requirements for Libra, Libra MIS, ITS, Common Platform, Applications register and Xhibit;
  • Work with PNLD to provide monthly updates to the offence library;
  • Work with court staff on disputes and queries on standing data;
  • Work with, and manage, IT suppliers to deliver standing data changes in the criminal application set;
  • Test and assure products before release into the live environment;
  • Ensure case management systems data complies with criminal justice system (CJS) data standards (including Bichard 7 requirements);
  • Analyse issues and draft solutions;
  • Liaise effectively with stakeholders, across HMCTS and the CJSE.

Skills & Experience:

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical capabilities
  • IT competent, in use and in problem solving
  • Strong customer focus in a demanding environment.
  • Good written, presentation and strong communication skills
  • Experience of project management of small project

Desirable Criteria:

  • Knowledge of Criminal IT systems, Libra in particular.
  • Experience of Working in a criminal court, Magistrates and / or Crown
  • Knowledge/experience of databases and xml schemas

Working Arrangements & Further Information

Some of MoJ’s terms and conditions of service are changing as part of Civil Service reform. The changes will apply to staff joining MoJ who are new to the Civil Service. Staff joining MoJ from other civil service employers will transfer onto the new MoJ terms if they are already on 'modernised' terms in their current post or onto 'unmodernised' MoJ terms if they are on 'unmodernised' terms at their current post. Annual Leave

Grading Structure Review

The Ministry of Justice is currently undergoing a review of posts which are currently graded at Band A to realign our grading structure with the majority of the wider Civil Service.

Posts advertised at Band A may be graded at either Grade 6 or Grade 7 once the review has taken place.
